About Speaker
Dr. Eakins is a sought-after presenter at national and international conferences on the topics of DEI, public safety leadership, active shooter survival, and emergency management. He consults and conducts training for the U.S. Department of Justice through a Technical Training Institute for the VAWA grant, and the U.S. Department of Education through the REMS TA Center. Dr. Eakins also serves as a Technical Peer Reviewer on federal grant applications focused on firearm violence, body-worn cameras, and campus resilience.
Dr. Eakins has served on several boards and has held committee chairperson assignments. Most recently he served for several years as a board member with the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) and as the chairperson for the Education and Learning Committee that developed the curriculum for the inaugural First-Line Supervisor Institute. He has served as a board member for the American Red Cross Indianapolis Chapter and in leadership positions for several ASIS International chapters.
His education attainments include an A.S. degree in Police Science from Calhoun Community College; a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice & Business Administration from Athens State University; an M.S. degree in Security Management from Bellevue University; and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration with a concentration in Homeland Security Policy and Coordination from Walden University. Dr. Eakins graduated from FEMA’s National Emergency Management Executive Academy Cohort III, and he is Board Certified in Security Management by ASIS International.
