Building Partnerships to Prepare for the Future.

THE CAMPUS CONNECTION

I.O.B.S.E. is committed to developing future industry leaders for tomorrow’s domestic and global security challenges. As part of its mission and vision, I.O.B.S.E. has developed a Career and Leadership Preparation Seminar for college students. The seminar is designed to introduce the vast career opportunities within the security industry and prepare our emerging leaders to successfully transition from academia into the professional workforce. Schools can become partners with us through membership, hosting, and supporting students to attend our career prep seminars on campus each year. Our objectives are to build awareness, educate, and assist our minority students in identifying a successful security career.

How the Program Works

I.O.B.S.E.’s Student Education Committee members drive our campus partnership initiative. A member of the committee is assigned as the Liaison for one or more universities/colleges. Committee members are experienced men and women currently working within the security industry. These executives lead and influence critical business decisions within their organization every day, including hiring decisions.

As a Student Education Committee Member, they will serve as the Liaison and lead facilitator for their assigned schools. They will partner with the campus Professors and Career Services faculty and staff members to plan opportunities to speak in classrooms, career fairs, student organization forums, facilitate career preparation seminars, etc. Our primary focus is on junior and senior level students who have disciplines in the Criminal Justice and Sociology fields and will join the workforce soon. Our objective is to help identify career opportunities through education, networking, and mentoring. Also, to build awareness on the vast opportunities within the security industry and help jumpstart career success, the on-campus career preparation seminar will be open to all student disciplines.

Annual Conference Sponsorship

Once a university/college becomes a partner, students who meet the criteria will have the opportunity to be sponsored for our virtual Annual Spring Conference. This is an opportunity for security career-minded students to meet and network with all levels of minority security professionals from managers to vice presidents and CEOs Nationally and abroad within all types of organizations. Each year junior and senior level students are provided an opportunity to interview on-site with participating companies. Below are the criteria for student eligibility to attend the conference.
  • The student must be in good standing with his/her university and community.
  • The student must demonstrate a high interest in the security profession and his/her future by attending the on-campus Career Seminar. All academic disciplines are encouraged to attend.
  • The student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. (If not, the student will be considered for sponsorship with a written recommendation from a University Professor or Career Center faculty member).
  • The student must send in a resume and complete an interview.
  • The student must attend a Student Orientation conference call hosted by I.O.B.S.E.

Scholarship Opportunities

As a sponsored student, you may qualify to apply for one of our $1000.00 Scholarship monies that will be applied directly to your college tuition. Interested and eligible students are asked to submit a 500-word essay describing how their interest in security, leadership, and community involvement would be the best candidate to receive the scholarship.
